Minaudieres pronounced as \ˌmē-nōd-ˈyer\ have become a red carpet staple with our favorite stars. This too-small-to-hold- anything decorative case is a must-have if you want to make it to the best dressed list, among other things, of course.
This creation dates back to the 40′s when women’s fashion was conservative. The look then was very lady like. Skirt suits were abundant and the women then relied on their accessories to give them a more feminine look. Hence, the birth of minaudieres.
One designer who helped usher the comeback of such pieces is Tina Maristela Ocampo, a Filipina whose exquisitely crafted minaudieres landed on the pages of Vogue and which were then pegged as the next “It Bag.” True enough, Celestinas were soon after seen on the hands of Hollywood A-listers. Here are some of the star pieces from the Celestina line.

Celestina Sterling Silver Croc Minaudiere
At the recently concluded 82nd Oscar Awards, most of the noteworthy best dressed figures were spotted carrying a minauduere.

These minaudieres are truly drool worthy but I’d say, unless you’re Red Carpet bound, it’s not worth our hard earned fashion money. For those of you who are in the market though, check these pieces out. And if you are really intending to invest in one, choose wisely. One that even your grand daughter someday will treasure.
Herve Leger Crystal Clutch
A classic choice. Also comes in black.
Touch Ups Camille Clutch
Another classic choice. And affordable too!
Alexander McQueen Skull Box Clutch
Can also be a classic choice but with a twist. The skull gives it a dose of tough chicness. And with the designers passing, this piece is already a collectors item.
